Getting in the mood for Valentine's day....

Coffee time...!!!

My current "automatic" coffee maker... a thrifstore find. I used to have a smaller version, but one sad day it broke. I love this one, it makes me feel so "chic" when serving the coffee.

Feeling blue....

I found this blue vase? in one my huntings. It was there standing by himself in the shelf, it doesn't have any marks, so I don't know if it's vintage, but I love the color, specially under the light of the china cabinet.

My affair with Pyrex...

I love those pyrex bowls, unfortunately I just have a couple, I have no luck in that category.








I was dreaming for one of this corningware and I was very happy when I found it, but I broke the lid after a few uses, grrrh.... I still love it though.

My addiction....

I have a secret... well, I believe most women share the same addiction... shoes!!!. These are some of the ones I have found at different thfrifstores, I believe I paid about $ 3.00 ea. pair.

I got this pair a year ago, I was so excited and then I twisted my left ankle, sniff, sniff!!! so now that I'm better I'm hopping to wear them soon.

Apostrhope... this pair was 6.99 dlls.

Alpine, Made in Spain.

I wore this pair all fall and they are super comfy.

Believe it or not every pair was new.

My favorite find...

One of my favorite finds, if not THE favorite, it's this sort of lace-knitted tablecloth. I was looking for a handmade embroidery tablecloth with no luck, I almost gave up, but one day I woke up with that feeling, when you know you are close to something desired. I walked straight to the linens area or my favorite thrifstore and there it was, waiting for me.



I haven't give up the idea to find an embroidery tablecloth, but since I found one ( not handmade ) in my trip to Mexico last april, I'm not in a hurry, in the meantime I enjoy whatever treasure I encounter, like this tikki pitcher and glasses set, I know it's not vintage or retro, but isn't it cute? perfect for those summer days in the backyard, oh, and that red tray it is a thrifty find too.

More findings....

A vignette of my thrifted treasures... Everything on top of the microwave and on the wall cabinet have been thrifted for $ 1.00 dlls of less each.. As well as the rooster lamp ( My Boricua picked that up by Himself)



Yellow mugs with bunnies made in Portugal. I think the little "bucket" is for matches??? is made in China, its so cute. I probably paid $ 1.00 dlls for each.



These mugs are made in China. In the bottom it reads Sakura Oneida.

My recent find....

We were going to the mall and got hungry, we decided to get pizza, we turned around and found a thriftyshopper, ( my favorite chain of thrifstores ). We got the pizza, parked the car at the parking lot of the thrifstore, ate and left the kids and teenagers in the car while we went to check it out...

I was a little disappointed, the prices were a little high, I really didn't see anything I liked and then I saw this pitcher, it was marked 1.99 dlls. It's not vintage or retro, it's made in china, he he he, but I love the colors.

My broken treasures....

I broke the blue dip dish by accident, my youngest daughter broke the green planter. First I thought I could glue them back, but there were several little pieces missing. Oh well, another excuse to go thrifting, he he he....

My finds

I was very very happy when I found the atomic era dish, that's the only I have : (
The yellow ying yang dish is marked as made in California USA and I love it. A few days ago I broke the blue bowl for dip or salsa, I wanted to cry, I saw one in green in one blog. My absolutely favorite is the last one, I found the bowl first, and weeks later the three bowls.

Storybook or Cinderella Ranch House....





I am in love with the ranch style, it has always been my dream to buy a house in this style, but I recently discovered the Cinderella or Storybook Ranch Houses, oh my...!!! they are gorgeous....

The china cabinet we bought from one of My Boricua's coworkers' mom for only $40 dlls...

Entre chacharas te veas...

My first encounter with the "second hand things" was when I was a child in my dear Mexicali... My parents used to go the this place called "virreyes" a shopping center with several little shops with gently used furniture, clothing, etc., etc. Every sunday they went and when I wasn't too lazy I went too. There is a mobile fleamarket on sundays and other weekday, we used to go there too, plenty of treasures.


When I got married and came to live the USA my first experience was the yard or garage sales, living on a miliary base I did find several new little (and big ) wonderful things.

After that I found the "thrifstores" and I am in love with them. Most of my decor is from them, several pieces of kitchen gadgets and vintage bowls, purses, shoes, the list has no ending... most of them are new or barely used.


Most of the things in our house serve a purpose, but few are just for my enjoyment to make me smile just by looking at them and make my day brighter.
